Live Movie Maker Choppy Preview

Ive used movie maker for some time now. Recently while making a video I was trying to match the video to audio parts and during preview both the video, and audio are skipping making it nearly impossible to edit in any sort of reasonable fashion. I dont get this in regular movie maker, nor sony vegas etc, but I prefer movie maker as it offers me things that I wanted particularly for this...
