Problems playing downloaded BBC IPlayer ??

Hi new to BBC IPlayer so downloaded it ok then tried to play on default Win Media Player without any picture or sound, finally VLC was the same. It's displaying the moving minutes/hour button along the bottom bar ok, so no idea why there's no sound or picture ? Any help much appreciated .... Thanks :)
