Getting Logged off Automatically after varying intervals, how to fix?

The laptop in questions keeps logging off the user(the only user account on the laptop) and have to log back in. this happens at varying intervals. sometimes back to back of out of the blue. recently reinstalled windows and updated all the software. noticed this after doing the bios update from HP since there was a fix for touch pad functionality. not sure if this is related but ... the...
