Remote desktop resolution

I often use the built-in remote desktop to connect to my house computer from a netbook, and since it's on a much smaller display I often en up having trouble with many programs because of the lower resolution. So, a simple question, how can I increase the resolution of the remote display beyond the resolution of the client computer? At the configuration section I can only set the resolution...
