Images saving to PC too small

Hi hope someone can help. No matter what size image I choose to download from net it is always much smaller then the original image dimensions. I have tried at least 20 and never get one over 450 x 180. Eg. Last one I tried had original specs of 967 x 265, after saving to my pictures it is now 429 x 117. This is really annoying me, please help. Thanks.
