How does one adjust mouse speed on the login screen?

I know how to adjust my mouse speed/sensitivity when I'm logged into Windows. But my work computer got a new mouse, I adjusted the speed, and now when I'm not logged in (that is, on the login screen), the mouse pointer just FLIES around the screen, and I feel like I'm on drugs or otherwise uncoordinated when I try to move the pointer.
