GPU Temp. Too High, etc. ?

Hello, Hav a a 3-1/2 yr old HP Desktop. Monitor has been going totally blank, now and then; a few times a day. When working otherwise, 100 % fine. Was wondering if possibly a temp. buildup, with an "automatic" shutdown perhaps ? Possible ? Have just installed the Speedfan program, and have a bunch of reading I don't understand ?
